KitchenCadence Privacy Policy

KitchenCadence is made by Michael Jennings-Offen, an individual developer, and "we" throughout this policy means him. It is a cooking app that plans and times your meals. It has no accounts, no advertising, and no analytics. This policy explains the one occasion on which anything leaves your phone.

What stays on your device

Your recipes, your cooking sessions, your settings and your timers are stored on your device and nowhere else. We cannot see them. There is no account to create and no sign-in, so we hold no name, email address or password for you.

What happens when you import a recipe

When you import a recipe from a link or pasted text, the app sends the following to our recipe-import service:

• the recipe text, or the text of the web page you shared;
• an anonymous device identifier, used only to apply a daily import limit.

Our service passes the recipe text to Anthropic, which reads it and returns a structured recipe. Anthropic processes the text to answer that one request. We do not store the recipe text, and it is not used to train anyone's models.

If your device supports on-device AI, the app tries to read the recipe locally first. When that works, nothing is sent anywhere at all.

The device identifier

The identifier is Apple's "identifier for vendor". It is specific to your device and our apps, is not linked to you or to any account, and cannot be used to identify you across other companies' apps. We use it for one purpose: counting imports so that a single device cannot run up unlimited cost. It is reset when you delete the app.

What we keep

Our service keeps anonymous counters — how many imports a device or network address has made today — which expire automatically within about a day. It does not keep recipes, links or the contents of your imports. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, may briefly retain standard technical logs, and we may log an error message when an import fails so that it can be fixed.

What we don't do

• No advertising, and no data shared with advertisers or data brokers.
• No analytics or usage tracking.
• No selling of personal information.
• No location, contacts, photos, microphone or health data.

Notifications, Siri and the Dynamic Island

Timer notifications, Live Activities and Siri commands are handled by iOS on your device. Their contents are not sent to us.

Paying for the app

Recipe import beyond the free trial imports is a paid unlock. Payment is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see your card details, billing address or Apple ID — Apple tells us only that a purchase was made, and the app records that unlock on your device. Refunds are handled by Apple, not by us.

Children

KitchenCadence is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Your rights

Because we hold no account and no personal data about you, there is nothing for us to look up, export or delete on request. Deleting the app removes everything the app has stored. If you'd like the anonymous counters associated with your device cleared sooner, email us and we'll do it.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that affects what leaves your device, we'll update the date above and note the change in the app's release notes.
